Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

Our greatest President would have turned 101 today.

It's hard to believe that nearly eight years have passed since the VOLConWife and I said good bye to him with so many other Americans in the Rotunda of the Capitol.

It's equally as hard to believe how far we have fallen from achieving the goals that President Reagan wanted our nation to accomplish. I don't imagine that he would be too happy with where we are today, do you?

A President's Day Tradition

Having viewed ridiculous descriptions of what President's Day means from the likes of CNN and MSNBC, I went with my tried and true President's Day tradition - Ronald Reagan's "A Time for Choosing" speech delivered at the 1964 Republican National Convention.

It's 28 minutes long, but this speech changed America because it marked the changing of a man - a man who became the greatest President of the United States in my lifetime. You see the passion for conservative principals that is in no way contrived or manipulative.

This is what I think of when we reach President's Day.

The Real Thing

When I hear people talk about being inspired by Barack Obama, I can do nothing but pity them. Obama inspires like a Hallmark card inspires - nice words with no substance.

I had an inspirational leader. There was substance and style. There was passion and conviction, but there was a plan there to make America strong and prosperous again.

I pity the poor citizens inspired by Barack Obama. They're looking for Ronald Reagan but only finding a cheap imitation.
