Postal Service Looking at Cutting Mail Service to Five Days Per Week

This report doesn't mention it, but why wasn't the Postmaster General questioned about reducing the hourly wages of postal workers? I'm not really aware of any college degrees or vocational training for mail carriers, but it appears that postal work is paid at an hourly wage of $18.02 to $23.59, plus federal benefits (including health insurance, life insurance, retirement, savings plans, annual leave, and sick leave). The popularly cited statistic is that labor costs comprise almost 72% of the U.S. Postal Service's budget.

I'd be interested to see which Member of Congress thinks his constituents want to pay more for less service from the USPS.
