True Filibusters

Professor Reynolds at Instapundit has joined those of us who are for the reinstitution of actual oratory filibusters. It makes sense to me, because if a large minority of senators can kill a bill by reciting cookbooks and bloviating about their childhood dreams, at least they have done something to kill the bill instead of a simple cloture vote that a moron (or Ted Kennedy on a pubcrawl) could orchestrate. Mickey Kaus doesn't agree with us, writing that this simply wouldn't work and, even if it was instituted, the Democrats would be able to win through actual filibustering. Wrong on both counts, Mickey. It worked before, and the GOP Senators are younger as a group and would be intensely motivated by the chance to effectuate change on the Supreme Court.
